Palmito Jussara from the Índios Guarani in Angra Dos Reis
The ancient skills of the indigenous people came into play - the Guarani tribe from Angra dos Reis grew the 500 saplings of Palmito Jussara for our Agro Reforestation Project.
An additional 250 saplings are arriving this spring . We have chosen the banks of the 3 Brooks for their planting in semi- shade areas where they will thrive .
Pasture area beyond the barbed wire. A mixture of exotic hard woods ,productive fruit trees from the Atlantic Forest , trees that produce resin, straw, seeds and those that enrich the nutrients in the soil.
Area 1. Vegetation along the brook and pasture where the Sistema Agroflorestal will be planted - 105 hard wood trees - 200 bananas Musa SP - Palmito Jussara 50 kg of seeds - exotic fruit trees 110 - all selected from species native to the Atlantic Forest.
We can see that on the top hand side of the field the presence of small , original forest area The aim is to plant the pasture in stages until the whole area is covered by the mix of exotic and rare hardwood trees , tropical fruit trees , those that enrich the soil and last but not least , those that produce seeds, resin , straw.
The planting scheme concept is to layout a system of trails to add an educational aspect for those who come to visit the forest in the near and distant future.
Maturity will be reached in 20 years
The pasture on the other side of the brook is the first area allocated for the planting of exotic tropical trees and fruit trees from the Atlantic Forest.

Piaui will bring another 500 saplings of Palmito Jussara in October this year which will be planted on the borders of the 3 streams ( brooks ). They are also coming from the nursery of the Indios Guarani.
